Tommy Bolin - Fever

Tommy Bolin - Fever - 2000 (box with 15 cds)

Wild Horses - Stand Your Ground

Wild Horses - Stand Your Ground - 1981  (reissued 2009 with 4 bonus tracks)

Wild Horses was formed in the summer of 1978 by ex-Thin Lizzy guitarist Brian Robertson and ex-Rainbow bassist Jimmy Bain. At an early stage the line-up featured former Stone The Crows and Wings guitarist Jimmy McCulloch and former Small Faces drummer Kenney Jones, but eventually stabilised with the addition of drummer Clive Edwards (ex-Pat Travers, Uli Roth) and guitarist/keyboardist Neil Carter (ex-Wilder, Gilbert O'Sullivan). This line-up recorded the Trevor Rabin-produced eponymous album in 1980, released by EMI who signed the band after their 1979 Reading Festival appearance.

Carter left the band in August 1980 after the band's UK tour with Ted Nugent in order to join UFO and later Gary Moore. His replacement was guitarist John Lockton (ex-The Next Band, Red Alert) whose first appearance was on the band's Japanese tour in the autumn of 1980 followed by the release of the Stand Your Ground album in the spring of 1981.

Allan Clarke - My Real Name Is 'Arold

Allan Clarke - My Real Name Is 'Arold - 1972

John Parker Compton - Mother of Mercy

John Parker Compton - Mother of Mercy - 1995

06. Sunk Canoe
07. Where Did He Go?

John Parker Compton - Find a Way

John Parker Compton - Find a Way (single) - 2011

by Joslyn Layne (AMG guide)
Singer, songwriter, and guitarist John Parker Compton co-founded the acoustic band Appaloosa with violinist Robin Batteau in the late '60s. Both musicians had been heavily influenced by the folk scene in their hometown, Cambridge, MA. Compton got his start singing in a Cambridge church choir before he and Batteau began playing the coffeehouse circuit together.

As the 1972 press release for Compton's solo album, To Luna, tells it, John Compton showed up at producer Al Kooper's Columbia Records office in late 1968, hoping to show Kooper his songs. Uninterested, Kooper told the kid (Compton was 18) to come back some other time. But a little while later, Kooper came in on Compton and Batteau performing for the office secretaries. Won over, Kooper recorded their demo, and within a year the newly signed musicians had an album out, the self-titled debut from their group Appaloosa. Also including bassist David Reiser and cellist Eugene Rosov, Appaloosa was joined in the studios by members of Blood, Sweat & Tears, and by Kooper himself.

Tundra - Tundra

Tundra - Tundra - 1976

01. Say You Don't Want It
02. Double Crossed
03. Dancers Dilemma
04. Flat On The Ground
05. I Want To Tell You

06. Calling Of The Wind
07. Get It Free
08. Temperature Cold
09. Dead Of Night
10. What Else Can I Say

Glen Turner - Guitar. Vocal (2)
Chris Stainton - Keyboard
Charlie Harrison - Bass, Vocal
Henry Spinetti - Drums

Fifty Foot Hose - Sing Like Scaffold

Fifty Foot Hose - Sing Like Scaffold - 1996

San Francisco’s Fifty Foot Hose were certainly one of the innovators of a sound that took Psychedelia to new heights and was captured on the band’s one record, “Cauldron”. Band leader, Cork Marcheschi, used homemade electronic devices to create crude and experimental soundscapes and instrumental compostitions that were sprinkled throughout the album. However, these passages are not characteristic of the whole albums. “Cauldron” passes through many other styles, which include Folk & Jazz and is anchored by Nancy Blossom’s Grace Slick-esque vocals, creating a wholly unique listening experience. In addition to his work sculpting, Cork Marcheschi brought the Hose back to the public eye for a new record in 1996 and still performs periodically.

Elizabeth Perry - Vocals
Walter Funk III - Electronics
Reid Johnston - Guitube, Guitar, Horns, Harmonium
