Ian Hunter's short time at Chrysalis marked one of his great periods so it's little wonder that it's been heavily anthologized over the years. Nevertheless, the 2012 four-disc box From the Knees of My Heart: The Chrysalis Years (1979-1981) is one of the best of the bunch, capturing his three albums for the label -- 1979's You're Never Alone with a Schizophrenic, 1980's live set Welcome to the Club, the very new wave 1981 platter Short Back N Sides -- and adding a bunch of rarities, including a live disc that was included as a bonus on an expanded double-disc reissue of You're Never Alone in 2009. Welcome to the Club and Short Back N Sides have also seen expanded reissues over the years and most, but not all, of the bonus cuts are here, along with a few other songs that haven't showed up elsewhere, plus a live set at Pepsi Fest on the fourth disc that hasn't shown up on disc, but has been on home video before. Some of these details are little more than list-keeping for trainspotters because the essential fact is this: the three years Ian Hunter spent at Chrysalis are among his strongest, with him producing two excellent LPs (You're Never Alone with a Schizophrenic may be his greatest solo album) and fronting a hell of a band, heard here in their full glory twice. This is the easiest, best way to get all of the major recordings from this brilliant era at once.

Ian Hunter And The Rant Band - Live In The UK 2010 - 2014

In 2010 Ian Hunter and The Rant Band embarked upon an UK tour, accompanied by a string quartet.

The shows were recorded professionally using a 32 track mobile, and the songs are completely live with no overdubs or fixes. The finished CD was mixed and mastered by Peter Moshay (Shrunken Heads, Man Overboard and When I’m President). The track listing mixes fan favourites from the Mott era – Seadiver, Waterlow, All The Young Dudes – with songs from throughout Ian’s solo career – Irene Wilde, Michael Picasso, Wash Us Away, Flowers.

Ian has decided to release these recordings himself, eschewing the traditional record company process. Both he and Trudi have been involved in every aspect of putting this CD together, from track and running order selection, through to artwork and mixing / mastering.

The 1979 Hunter/Ronson touring band was a 7-piece unit. There were two Tommys (Mandel and Morrongiello) on keyboards  and rhythm guitar respectively, Hilly Michaels on drums and  Martin Briley on bass. George Meyer played a mean sax and also keyboards. Special guest Ellen Foley (Hunter & Ronson were producing her first album) added vocals on "Just Another Night". And of course the front-men Hunter & Ronson. This loud and powerful assemblage - seven egos vying for the spotlight - rocked out, especially on grittier songs like "Bastard" and "Standin' In My Light".

O box traz na mesma embalagem os discos "You're Never Alone With A Schizophrenic", "Short Back 'n' Sides", "Welcome To The Club" e mais um BONUS. E é justamente esse bonus que trago agora, já que os demais albuns acham-se fáceis na net.

O 4º CD, ou "Ian Hunter Rocks" traz um show realizado em Nova Iorque (com o Mott The Hoople) em 11 de setembro de 1981 e que já havia sido lançado anteriormente em VHS e mais 4 faixas que foram cortadas da versão original do álbum - também ao vivo - "Welcome To The Club".
